This facilitates the targeted planning and optimization of energy usage. The aim is to protect the environment and reduce costs and thereby ensure PWO's competitiveness internationally. The organization and procedures of PWO's system comply with the international DIN ISO 50001 standard making PWO one of the few companies that already meet this stringent standard. PWO also meets the requirements of the 2014 EEG amendment (German Renewable Energy Act) so that it may continue to benefit from lower energy taxes and energy tax refunds. In addition, the Information Security Management System (IMS) at the Oberkirch location and the corresponding IT systems were tested and certified for the first time according to the recently revised ISO IEC 27001:2013/2014 standard. This standard sets the benchmark recognized globally for IMS certification and for the evaluation of information and IT environment security. This certification will also lead to a regular review and development of the security policy and the IMS by virtue of an annual audit. Confidentiality, integrity, and the availability of information are among a company's strategic success factors. The aim of PWO's comprehensive security policy is to identify and analyze IT risks and use the appropriate measures to make these risks manageable. The basic principles of these two management systems are already being used at PWO Group's four other production sites located in the Czech Republic, Canada, Mexico, and China.
