PWO's management systems for energy and IT security certified by external audit

- Energy management meets DIN ISO 50001 requirements

- IT security management certified according to the latest international standard for the first time

Oberkirch, August 26, 2014 - With all of PWO's operational processes, the Company
relies on maximum performance by international comparison. For this reason, the Company's energy and IT security management systems located at the Oberkirch location were recently reviewed and certified by external audits.

PWO's comprehensive energy management system makes energy sources, currents, and consumption visible. This facilitates the targeted planning and optimization of energy usage. The aim is to protect the environment and reduce costs and thereby ensure PWO's competitiveness internationally. The organization and procedures of PWO's system comply with the international DIN ISO 50001 standard making PWO one of the few companies that already meet this stringent standard. PWO also meets the requirements of the 2014 EEG amendment (German Renewable Energy Act) so that it may continue to benefit from lower energy taxes and energy tax refunds.

In addition, the Information Security Management System (IMS) at the Oberkirch location and the corresponding IT systems were tested and certified for the first time according to the recently revised ISO IEC 27001:2013/2014 standard. This standard sets the benchmark recognized globally for IMS certification and for the evaluation of information and IT environment security. This certification will also lead to a regular review and development of the security policy and the IMS by virtue of an annual audit. Confidentiality, integrity, and the availability of information are among a company's strategic success factors. The aim of PWO's comprehensive security policy is to identify and analyze IT risks and use the appropriate measures to make these risks manageable.

The basic principles of these two management systems are already being used at PWO Group's four other production sites located in the Czech Republic, Canada, Mexico, and China. Additional elements are continually being anchored in the operational processes in accordance with the development and the respective operational needs of the individual locations.
